Frequently Asked Questions
Generally, swinging screen doors need to be the only door in the opening besides your main entry door. If you already have a storm door or security door mounted, there usually isn't room for a screen door too. We can evaluate your setup during the appointment.
Yes, we can mount the hinges for an inward swing if your entryway layout requires it. Outward swing is standard and recommended since it keeps the door out of your walkway, but inward works fine where space allows.
We install a hold-open feature, either a pneumatic closer with a hold-open button or a simple hook-and-eye catch. Push the door open, engage the hold, and it stays put until you release it.
The screen door mounts to the face of your door frame, so minor cosmetic wear on the wood isn't a problem. If the wood is soft, rotting, or pulling away from the wall, we'll let you know before installation. The frame needs to be solid enough to hold screws securely.
With normal use, a quality swinging screen door lasts 8-12 years. The self-closing hinges may need adjustment over time, and the mesh can be rescreened if it gets damaged. The aluminum frame itself is very durable.
